        In downtown Denver, Cinco De Mayo is a huge event where everyone is invited and welcome. The holiday celebrates Mexico’s victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. While the holiday is not widely celebrated in Mexico, it is still popular amongst Mexican Americans in America. There is a lot of entertainment and food. One of the entertainments is Folklorico Dancing. Folklorico Dancing has been around for many years. It is mostly known for the dresses, the movement of the dresses, and the music.

        The Sexuality and Gender Alliance, also known as SAGA, is a club for LGBTQ+ and allies to meet and socialize every Thursday at DMHS. SAGA is led and was founded by Lauren Lyon, and she says, “It's important so that LGBTQIA+ students have a space at school to create connections and be their authentic selves.” LGBTQ+ students that attend SAGA meet every Thursday and share new things about themselves with their peers and Lauren.

A natural disaster impacted Syria and Turkey harshly on Feb 6 as more than 36,000 people died in total in an extremely destructive 7.8 magnitude earthquake which is almost one of the worst on the magnitude scale. Although this is not one of the worst earthquakes in Syria and Turkey, it still affected millions of people.

Denver Montessori Junior High Presents "The Jungle Book", by Marisol Kennedy

February 3rd, 2023 the DMHS farm school put on a musical: The Jungle Book, based on the story by Rudyard Kipling, with music by George Bruns, and directed and choreographed by Robin Yokel, the theater teacher at DMHS. There were about 100 friends and family members in the audience and 24 students performed (including actors, tech, light and curtains). The cast had rehearsed every Wednesday since late August until the show on February 3rd.

Bob Lazar is an American physicist who claims to have worked at area 51. He claims to have worked in a section of the base titled S4, which contained extraterrestrial technology.

Section S4 has one of the highest levels of security at area 51 and is a 15-mile drive from the main airforce base. Bob Lazar states, “Nine interstellar spacecraft were housed at the S4 facility and have been used in a reverse engineering program for ten years prior to my introduction to the program.” 

DPS Shakespeare Festival is a Highlight of DMHS's Year

Normally, a few thousand school children marching through the streets might be a cause for concern. But in Denver, Colorado, it marks one of the most exciting events in the school year.

Every April, Downtown Denver is home to the yearly Denver Public Schools Shakespeare Festival, where students of all ages from schools across Denver come together to march in a costumed parade and perform scenes and plays by Shakespeare. The event lasts all day, with scenes and plays performed simultaneously on many stages. The Festival is filled with children, teachers, community members, and parents, as students show off their acting chops.
