"Splatter/Squished Bug," a poem by Kaitlyn Tran

It starts with one

All I know
Watched you go

It starts with a crunch
Then a splatter
Like you never existed
And or mattered

Smeared across the rough
Your emerald armor once so tough
I stood there
Now alone

Slinkling back into straws of green
I stare with eyes of numb
Just two young fools
Known for being dumb

Body now flayed
Legs waving loosely in a messy cascade
Dead friend squished on the pavement
Why must you leave me alone?

Lost
Alone
By myself
And on my own
