DMHS Teens at the Opera! by Abrianna Luis-Estrada

Please enjoy this article by a student in DMHS's "Introduction to Journalism" class.

Attending an opera is an opportunity most high school students don’t get. Theater students at Denver Montessori Jr/Sr High recently had their first experience with opera when they attended “Die Tote Stadt.”

DPS Shakespeare Festival is a Highlight of DMHS's Year

Normally, a few thousand school children marching through the streets might be a cause for concern. But in Denver, Colorado, it marks one of the most exciting events in the school year.

Every April, Downtown Denver is home to the yearly Denver Public Schools Shakespeare Festival, where students of all ages from schools across Denver come together to march in a costumed parade and perform scenes and plays by Shakespeare. The event lasts all day, with scenes and plays performed simultaneously on many stages. The Festival is filled with children, teachers, community members, and parents, as students show off their acting chops.

DMHS High Schoolers perform "Spamalot!"

On December 8th and 9th, 10th-12th grade theater students performed their annual musical. This year's production was "Spamalot," a whacky musical based on the cult classic movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." Fans of the film saw many of their favorite Monty Python lines and songs brought to life, with some new twists and turns thrown into the original story.

This was the final DMHS musical for seniors Marisa Mulryan, Kirra Lindauer, Joaquin Weeda, Drew Wood, and China Omenai. We thank them for so many years of wonderful performances, and wish them well in their future theater endeavors!

Please see below for photos and a cast list from the production!
